On the morning of March 29, 2019, Ambassador Patrick Nijs, co-founder of EU-China Joint Innovation Center (EUCJIC), Mr. Lin Gai and Deputy Director Peter Huang visited the training center of Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht (RSC Anderlecht) in Belgium, and met with Mr. Aaron Kanwar, Head of International at RSC Anderlecht.
During the meeting, Mr. Kanwar gave a detailed introduction to the 100-year history of the RSC Anderlecht as well as its leading global youth training system, and expressed his expectation of future cooperation with China. While Deputy Director Peter Huang introduced the current development of Chinese football and the positive role that the EUCJIC has played in facilitating multi-level cooperation between Europe and China. Discussions have been friendly and pragmatic, focusing on the future cooperation between the RSC Anderlecht and Chinese football clubs and schools and exhibiting mutual good wills. Following this meeting, a MoU on cooperation will be signed soon.
After the meeting, the delegation was introduced to the training venues, rehabilitation facilities and advanced monitoring system of the Club, which allowed them to have a systematic understanding of why this top Belgian football club has been able to deliver six key players to the currently best national team in the world.
Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, founded in 1908, is a Belgian professional football club based in Anderlecht, Brussels Capital-Region. Anderlecht plays in the Belgian First Division A and is the one of the most successful Belgian football teams, having won five trophies in European competitions, 34 times of championship in domestic league, 9 Belgian Cups, 1 Belgian League Cup and 13 Belgian Super Cups. Their current stadium, Constant Vanden Stock Stadium with the capacity of 22,500 persons, was finished in 1983.
